Java Black Bamboo,

       

DESCRIPTION

A striking plant from Indonesia.  Similar in height to Timor Black (Bambusa lako) but not quite as vertical.

Though the canes are not as highly polished as Timor Black, they turn a deeper black more quickly.

Absolutely gorgeous as well as being multi-use.  The shoots are edible but are more likely to be used for musical instruments or construction as they are excellent quality lumber.   Attains heights of 40-60 feet, with canes to 4� in diameter.
