Bamboo privacy fence                                             Cedar wood privacy fence

Two things are very important in the garden. They are privacy and shelter. The latter is often a problem in gardens which are exposed to cold prevailing winds. Both these points are important not only for the gardener himself, but also for the plants in his garden. Young growth can be severely damaged by cold winds and frequent buffeting will cause a great deal of root disturbance. Although privacy and shelter can be provided by trees and shrubs, fences also have an important part to play

A maximum privacy fence can also be a barrier for reducing noise. When total privacy is not required, lattice lets you develop interesting fence patterns that allow some view.

There are many different type of privacy fencing in the market today., including those constructed with vinyl, cedar wood, bamboo.

Wood fences provide some of the most attractive options for a fence design geared to privacy. To explore some of the types of wood fences, please see below....

The stockade style is an example of a fence design that can afford a solid barrier between your yard and your neighbor's, resulting in almost total privacy. While masonry work such as brick can do the same, it costs significantly more than does a wood fence.

Others prefer a compromise on privacy, choosing wood fences with a certain amount of airiness to them, to avoid fencing out the outer world altogether. Tall picket fencing is an example of such a fence design style for partial privacy. Another fence design option here is lattice fencing, for the lattice pattern will open up the screen more that the privacy fencing.

A popular alternative to the two types of fence design discussed above is a hybrid fence design: i.e., a solid barrier for the bottom three-quarters of the fencing, with lattice on top to provide visual interest
