We have a lot of our customers call us asking about the law regulating fencing, the answer is yes

Many cities and states have laws surrounding the use of fences? For example, livestock are governed by two different sets of fencing laws. In open ranges, animals are allowed to roam free. The responsibility to protect your personal property does not lie on the owner of the animals, but rather on you as the owner of the property. In closed ranges, livestock owners are responsible for any damage caused by their animals.

Another common law surrounding fences is a law that affects those who own swimming pools. Many cities have laws that say houses with pools must have fences, in order to keep children from accidentally drowning in the pools. The laws vary from place to place, but most cities have a certain height requirement for these fences. Housing and condominium associations often have regulations about fences. Before installing any fencing in your yard, you should check the laws and regulations that are in place in your area.
